Screen Acts: Women in Film and Video highlights women artists and filmmakers whose works draw on the histories of representation and performance to address some of the most pressing social issues of our time. Through film and video, the artists in this exhibition examine the relationship between power and aesthetics, and explore the politics of space and collective memory, to articulate their experiences and reveal broader truths about contemporary life.
Screen Acts: Women in Film and Video is organized by Rory Padeken, associate curator, and Kathryn Wade, curatorial associate.
Screen Acts: Women in Film and Video coincides with SJMA’s season of exhibitions of work by visionary women artists in celebration of the Museum’s 50th anniversary.
